About Napa-Solano Audubon
Our community is dedicated to the appreciation, understanding and preservation of habitats near and far.
As an active chapter of National Audubon Society, we offer many opportunities for people of all ages to experience birds and learn more about the beautiful natural areas that surround us. We primarily serve the communities of Napa and Solano Counties, northeast of the San Francisco Bay. Attending a field trip or monthly speaker program is a great way to learn more about our organization. You need not be a “serious bird-watcher” to be a part of our group! We welcome newcomers and interested birders of all skill levels. As a predominantly volunteer organization with a few part-time educational staff, we offer many opportunities for volunteers to participate in a variety of projects, large or small.
Beyond bird-watching, the Napa-Solano Audubon Society is committed to: educating our public, collecting “citizen science” data to monitor local bird populations , and advocating for the preservation of natural habitat and local biodiversity. Napa and Solano counties are a beautiful and biologically rich area. We have a wide variety of habitats including tidal salt and fresh water marshes, vernal pools, grasslands with valley oaks, chaparral foothills, riparian corridors, and a several types of woodlands. Our Countys’ land includes over 50,000 acres cultivated vineyards. As an organization, we offer many educational opportunities for the local community to increase awareness of the importance of these habitats and the birds that depend upon them.
You can help us to fulfill our Mission by volunteering in any of our activities, or making a monetary donation to help us fund our part-time staff who provide educational opportunities for individuals, families, youth groups, and schools. Your participation can help us implement our many citizen science activities, and carry out our conservation advocacy efforts to preserve habitats for plants, birds and wildlife.
