DESCRIPTION:NSAS sponsors weekly birding walks\, open to everyone\, led by ornithologist Andrew Ford. Andrew has a wealth of information regarding birds\, plants and just about anything else you might happen to come across on the weekly birding trip. Our first Weekly Walk is scheduled for Napa’s Kennedy Park on Saturday\, September 7th beginning at 8:00 a.m. Kennedy Park has trees and fields that run along the Napa River. The habitat includes Estuaries\, Mudflats\, Marshlands\, Willow and Redwood Groves. We are likely to see a variety of Herons\, Egrets\, and Shorebirds along the River\, hear Virginia\, Sora\, and even Black Rails in the Marshes and observe our earliest migrating passerines in the Willow thickets and along the Oak and Redwood lined pathways.  If you are not already signed up for our Field Trip eBlasts\, sign up for all Field Trip notices by clicking on the green button entitled “Activity Sign Up” located at the top of our new NSAS Website’s Homepage. Andrew will send out the weekly destination for each Bird Walk. All Bird walks take place in our near Napa and Solano Counties to help birders become familiar with our local birding hotspots!

DESCRIPTION:Hey\, beginning birders! We hope to start up our Beginning Bird Walks in October emphasizing basic bird identification at American Canyon Wetlands or Newell Canyon Preserve\, and at other locations in Solano County. Look for updates on locations and times in our Field Trip email Announcements. \nMost Weekly Bird Walks include a walk of variable length ranging from 1-2 miles. Most trails are in good condition and of moderate length but occasionally there will be elevation changes and more rugged terrain. Please bring a day pack with snacks\, water\, sunscreen\, and field guides along with a good pair of binoculars and sturdy pair of hiking shoes. \nNOTE: Trips may be canceled due to inclement weather conditions (rain\, high temperature\, or wind).
