2024 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
WHAT IS NAPA-SOLANO AUDUBON SOCIETY
Napa-Solano Audubon Society is a non-profit conservation group committed to monitoring local bird populations and preserving local biodiversity. As an active chapter of the National Audubon Society, we provide citizen science projects and educational opportunities to support our conservation work and increase the awareness of natural habitats and the birds that depend upon them.
PURPOSE
This scholarship provides a monetary award of $2,000.00 for one year to two graduating high school students or Community College students in both Napa and Solano Counties who show a commitment to the environment and the practice of conservation. Our goal is to award one scholarship in Napa County and one in Solano County.
ELIGIBILITYEligibility for application requires the following:
- Be a graduating senior at a Napa or Solano County high school who will begin studies at a Community College or a four-year college in the field of environmental studies, conservation, or another related field.
- Is pursuing a degree in environmental science/studies, natural resource management, forestry, ornithology, wildlife and fisheries, conservation biology, parks and recreation, environmental law/public policy, or other related fields.
- Be accepted and registered at a Community College or College/University before receiving their award.
- Demonstrate a clear interest in pursuing career goals related to the environment or conservation. Evidence of this may be found in course work taken, volunteer work in appropriate areas, possible employment in related areas, and membership or participation in appropriate organizations. Additional consideration will be given to applicants who have demonstrated an interest or participation in Audubon Society activities and a desire to support bird conservation through coursework and career goals.
APPLICATION SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A completed application must include the following:
- The completed application form on bit.ly/NSAS-Scholarship
- A one-page essay (up to 800 words) describing your interest in nature, the environment and conservation and how it influences your future personal and career goals
- Transcripts of all schoolwork completed to date
- Two letters of reference (non-family members only)
APPLICATION AWARD PROCESS
Applicants will be notified by mail after scholarship recipients have been selected in mid-May. Funds will be mailed to the recipients upon proof of enrollment for the Fall 2024 semester.
Applications must be completed by April 30, 2025.
